Firstly Hope all is well with everyone experiencing these fires close by.

I pray that nothing drastically happens to anyones home or wellbeing at this time
And that by the end of this we still have a community hall and spirit to keep the music flowing !  

What is the intention of the theme /
What is  SoundKalpa?
A Sanskrit pun on the ancient word Sankalpa which means something like resolve, intention and focus.
For our intention is to create a family friendly event that resonates with our local community using positive and sacred live music to enhance and transmit our new years resolution aiming to set a more peaceful and meaningful community spirit / gathering.

ROOTS RAGA REGGAE
On the 6th of January 2017 ~ We held our first of a kind festival organised by musicians for musicians which lasted through the day, night and until dawn the next morning.
I am proud to announce that the local community of Main Arm have asked for a follow up for this coming NYE and this indeed is happening; on a smaller scale but with the same intention to present quality world class music as apart of our growing cultural diversity here in our local community.

We have already a confirmed line up of international and top notch Indian classical musicians, Jazz, Roots and flamenco such as  Saptak Sharma on tabla from Delhi India and to mix things up on a more progressive level we have Tarshito's Funky Reggae Raga vision that is a full 5 - 6 piece band fusion of Indian scales meets raw Funk and Reggae.

Local rising Maestro Bart Stenhouse will also bring his Jazz & flamenco flavour into the world of Raga playing with Indian Fusion band  with Shivam Rath on the 22 string Crystal Slide and his partner Mico Sundari  on vocals presenting the sacred mantras of the east to the west; blending Indian Classical music with a more local rainbow spirit; of songs, chants and rocking Raga!


Following slots are approx estimated times for set up and performance which may change depending on artist preference and availability.

SOUL SANGEET :
Soul Sangeet is a series of Soulful World Music Concerts organised and performed with Shivam Rath on the (Chattarangi) Indian slide guitar
(A.K.A the Crystalslide ~ crystalslide.com)

The music promises a mystical journey into a exotic realm of music that will colour your mind with intoxicating melody and rhythm with a depth of knowledge and cultural understanding that has been passed down from generation to generation.  “Sangeet is sound or music in Sanksrit and follows a deep belief of spirit in sound”. Sangeet Mishra is an 8th generation Sarangi player from Benares, Shivam Rath is a classically trained musician having studied as a child with his father and from his Indian teachers in Varanassi & Calcatta (Including World Renowned Slide Guitarist Debashish Battacharia).

Shivam has adopted the use of the 22 string fusion Slide guitar with a Himalayan Crystal Ball for added grace and tone. Accompanying on percussion is some of Australia’s best Tabla players including Mahshi Raval originally from Gudgrat, India, Shen Flindell from Brisbane, International Tabla Wizard Hindole Majumdar and Italian Tabla Wallah Massimo Bidin.

Sangeet and Shivam will be performing music based on traditional Raga's set to the time of day and season. Each artist will be performing a solo followed by a collective finale ensemble with tabla.

All three artists have been touring nationally and internationally and are guarantee to take you on a mystical musical journey. Be prepared for rhythm and melody to excite your senses!
