Nada YogA
What makes a sound sacred? We all know the power of sound & music - and how it plays such a massive effect and role on our emotions and everyday lives. But what is it exactly that makes sound or music feel or sound pure and sacred?
Since beginning my studies of yoga and eastern philosophy; combined with the practice and strict discipline of Indian classical music I began naturally to combine the training and focus of both practices into one...... This incidentally led me into what is known as NadaYoga. A combination of music and sacred mantras; but anyone can chant mantras or play music; so to create sacred music there must be something more to it!? This year I asked my students China this question; while sharing for the past months my methods of NadaYoga. Most could not answer; and I did not feel fully satisfied with those who could answer..... It is something of a philosophical question; but I believe there is a science behind the act, just as their are systematic and scientific tools and principles for meditation; or how spirituality is something quite different from religion. I have my own answers which I am happy to discuss; but I want to hear other opinions too. So I am opening the channel to a wider community to hear the thoughts and sounds of those who also feel the intrigue and mystery behind the purity of sound.

What makes a sound sacred,,, Hard to tell according to me, as the answer might be in the Music itself, in its practice/way to play AND the listening of it.

What makes music sacred is the silence that separates vibration from stillness.

When a seamless vibrational transfer of sound occurs from an instrument to the air, through the physical cells and into the soul

Sacred music is one that speaks truth. Whatever the truth, it is a music filled with compassion, it is a free-flowing expression of our existential reality. It is a prayer and an acknowledgement of what is here, now.
